Book a City Trip to Berlin

A glamorous room in the Arte Luise art hotel

For many people, Berlin is high on the list of places they want to visit at least once – if not several times – in their lifetime, whether they're traveling from abroad or within Germany. Berlin is simply a must-see! The city’s unique mix of culture and art, food and nightlife, rich history, and green spaces makes it an unforgettable destination for a city break. Top sights include the iconic TV Tower at Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, and the remnants of the former Berlin Wall – visible at Potsdamer Platz, Mauerpark, or the East Side Gallery.

And what better way to experience a one-of-a-kind city than with a stay in a one-of-a-kind hotel: the Arte Luise Art Hotel. Book your stay with us and your Berlin adventure can begin!

The Perfect Hotel in Berlin

The Arte Luise Art Hotel is centrally located in Berlin Mitte, just a short walk from Berlin Central Station. It’s the perfect starting point for sightseeing in the capital. But what truly makes this hotel special isn’t just the excellent location – it’s the unique design of the rooms and the lobby. Each of the 50 rooms and the lobby has been transformed into a work of art by one of our 50 artists. You can explore the variety of rooms on our website. Which one would you most like to stay in? Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

Beyond the artistic rooms, the history of our hotel is also remarkable. Originally built in 1829 as a stately city palace, it was used as a residence for the upper class. During the GDR era, parts of the building fell into disrepair as it stood right at the Berlin Wall border. It was revitalized in 1994 and used as an artist residence called “Künstlerheim Luise” – a space where artists lived and worked and met with friends of the arts. In 1998, the building was lovingly restored and continued its legacy as an art hotel.

Top Sights in Berlin

Germany’s capital offers endless sights and experiences. Many major attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. A popular starting point is Alexanderplatz with the over 300-meter-high TV Tower. A trip to the observation platform is well worth it for a panoramic view of Berlin.

From Alexanderplatz, you can walk past Berlin Cathedral and follow the grand boulevard Unter den Linden all the way to the Brandenburg Gate – the symbol of German unity. Don’t miss the Reichstag and its famous glass dome nearby.

From there, continue to Potsdamer Platz with its striking modern skyline, where East once met West. Visit Checkpoint Charlie, a former Soviet-American border crossing, or explore the East Side Gallery, a section of the Berlin Wall transformed into open-air art.

For a more elegant experience, head to Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg, home to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church – a somber yet beautiful monument. Families and animal lovers will enjoy the Berlin Zoo, the oldest in Germany. You can easily return to the hotel by train.

Art and Culture in Berlin

Berlin is a paradise for art lovers. The Museum Island alone houses the Pergamon Museum, Bode Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, and James Simon Gallery, to name just a few. Not far from here – between Hackescher Markt and Alexanderplatz – is the DDR Museum, easily reachable by walking along the Spree from the hotel.

Other popular museums include the Museum of Natural History, the Jewish Museum, and the Spy Museum near Potsdamer Platz. Contemporary art can be found at Hamburger Bahnhof, C/O Berlin, and the Museum of Photography, close to Kurfürstendamm. Also worth visiting: Charlottenburg Palace and Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam – both with magnificent palace gardens.

Shopping in Berlin

Berlin offers endless shopping opportunities, from upscale shopping streets to boutique arcades. In West Berlin, Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf are among the most popular areas for shopping – with a mix of international brands and luxury labels. A visit to the famous Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) is a must. For a more alternative vibe, check out Bikini Berlin, home to independent boutiques and design shops.

Another shopping hotspot is the area around Hackescher Markt in Mitte. Alte Schönhauser Straße and Rosenthaler Straße are filled with well-known fashion and shoe stores. Friedrichstraße – just five minutes from our hotel – is also a great place for an extended shopping trip.

On weekends, especially Sundays, both locals and visitors head to Berlin’s many flea markets. The most popular ones are at the RAW-Gelände in Friedrichshain, Mauerpark in Prenzlauer Berg, and Maybachufer in Neukölln – all well worth a visit!

Food, Drink, and Dancing in Berlin

Berlin is world-famous for its nightlife. People from across the globe come to the capital to dance the night (and day) away to top techno and electronic DJs, especially in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Whether open-air or underground, Berlin’s party scene has something for everyone.

But Berlin’s nightlife is more than just clubs: cozy pubs, chic rooftop bars, and relaxed beach bars offer something for every taste.

The food scene is just as diverse. From fine-dining restaurants and Michelin-starred chefs to casual beer gardens with German classics like Currywurst, and international cuisines from Southeast Asia to South America – Berlin truly has it all.

Green Berlin

Berlin is surprisingly green, with countless parks, forests, and nature areas. Whether in the city center or on the outskirts, it’s easy to enjoy nature during your stay. Thanks to the convenient location of our hotel near Friedrichstraße and Central Station, you can quickly get to any green spot you desire.

The Tiergarten – Berlin’s largest park – is perfect for a picnic or a visit to a beer garden. Don’t miss the climb to the top of the Victory Column (Siegessäule) for panoramic views of Berlin.

Another highlight is Tempelhofer Feld in Tempelhof-Schöneberg – a former airport now used for sports, BBQs, and long walks. On hot summer days, locals and tourists alike flock to Berlin’s many lakes – often hidden in nearby forests. Wannsee and Schlachtensee, both in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, are especially popular for swimming, boating, and relaxing.

Getting Around in Berlin

The best way to get around Berlin is by public transport. The extensive network of S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams, and buses makes it easy and affordable to reach all of the city’s attractions. A great option for visitors is the Berlin WelcomeCard, available for 48 or 72 hours or 4 to 6 days. It includes unlimited travel on public transport and up to 50% discounts on many attractions – from the TV Tower and DDR Museum to Blue Man Group and Madame Tussauds.

Biking is another fantastic way to explore the city – and bikes can be conveniently rented directly at our hotel.
